Charlotte Concrete Services prices most new residential driveways in Charlotte at $8 to $14 per square foot installed, or $10 to $16 with tear-out of an old drive. A typical 600 square foot driveway runs about $4,800 to $8,400 new or $6,000 to $9,600 as a replacement.
The ranges are wide because the ground decides a lot: grade, red clay, roots, or an apron in the city right-of-way.

Square footage moves the total more than anything else. Here are our installed ranges for plain gray broom-finished concrete. The Charlotte right-of-way permit FAQ confirms that residential driveway connections to a city street go through CDOT, so we build that step into every estimate.
An installed price bundles several pieces of work. A low number elsewhere usually means one was cut.
Compacted graded aggregate base runs $1 to $2 per square foot and steel reinforcement $0.50 to $1.50, about $900 to $2,100 on 600 square feet. It is what keeps panels from settling.
Digging to firm soil and grading costs $1 to $3 per square foot. Flat lots sit at the bottom; a hillside cut in Eastover or toward Lake Wylie sits at the top.
Removing old concrete runs $2 to $6 per square foot depending on thickness, rebar and access.
Most of Mecklenburg County sits on Piedmont red clay, the Cecil series, a kaolinitic clay with low shrink-swell potential. The cost comes from water: Charlotte gets about 43 inches of rain a year, and saturated clay or loose fill turns soft under a slab.
A steep drive needs more excavation, sometimes a short retaining wall, and a trench drain to keep stormwater out of the garage. We price those as separate lines.
Trees are the third factor. Driveway work inside the drip line of a protected street tree needs a city arborist permit, and old willow oaks reach over many curbs. See why concrete cracks in Charlotte.
The apron between sidewalk and curb sits in the public right-of-way. A new or widened connection to a city street needs a driveway permit through Charlotte DOT (CDOT), built to the city's standard details with a sidewalk cross slope of 2 percent or less. See driveway permits in Charlotte.
If a sound slab has a few sunken panels, concrete leveling and mudjacking lifts them for far less than new concrete. Cracks and spalled edges are repair work at $3 to $8 per square foot. Past about a third of the panels broken, replace.
Keep the drive plain broom and save stamped work for a border or front walkway. Pouring a concrete patio in the same visit also saves, since the crew is already there.
